Counseling The Whole Person

Integrating Psychology with Spirituality

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 23 years of experience working with a variety of populations. I received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master of Divinity in 2000 from a seminary in New Orleans. I have training and experience integrating faith into therapy. I also have experience working with individuals (children through adults), couples, and families in crises. Furthermore, I have had experience working with teens on probation with Juvenile Justice and male inmates at a maximum-security prison diagnosed with Dementia, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Schizophrenia. I offer individual, couples, and family counseling to address the relationship or mental health issues currently occurring in an individual, couple, or family. I also provide premarital counseling, which can prepare you for marriage and help with the adjustment to the first few years of marriage. I have a passion for helping people feel accepted in therapy. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for my clients so that each person can focus on their feelings and work towards their goals in treatment. I’m extensively trained in Bowenian Family Systems Therapy.

Tailored to Fit Your Needs

Individual Therapy

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to specific circumstances. Through therapeutic interventions tailored to meet your individual needs, I assist pre-teens, teens, and adults in learning strategies to increase communication skills and to cope with thoughts, feelings, and interactions that create tension, stress, or behaviors which negatively affect relationships as well as school or work success.

Family Therapy

I have over 15 years of experience providing counseling to families who have been impacted by a family member’s issues such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Substance Abuse, or Bipolar Disorder. In therapy, I can help your family address the various issues that naturally occur when someone in your family has a presenting problem.

Relationship Therapy

Maintaining relationships can be very difficult with the various challenges of life occurring. I have the training, and experience to help guide you and your partner in getting back to the relationship you both desire. With a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling, I can help you gain the work-life balance we all want. Also, with the constant barrage of the various distractions in life (such as the prevalence of multimedia), relationships can, sometimes, take a backseat. I can help you prioritize your relationship. Furthermore, I can help you communicate more effectively with your partner, thereby helping you to argue in a way that effectively resolves issues so that they do not exacerbate creating more significant problems down the road.
